Mr. Bart Mastronardi
The Film Club began as a club with 6 students and a VCR. It has now grown to over 30 members with some film equipment. The club is popular with students who want to make movies and also discuss movies. Students bring in DVDs to share with fellow members to critique scenes from movies. Each year the members take trips to the Museum of the Moving Image, various movies in theaters and, at times, pizza parties. Various seminars have been presented in the fields of makeup F/X, lighting, editing and scriptwriting. Almost each year a screenwriting contest is held and the winner has his script filmed with the club members and then screened. Some of our Alumni have gone on to work at New York Film Academy and have worked extensively where the work has been played at various film festivals, sold on DVD and appeared in major magazines. The Film Club focuses its attention so members can come to understand the art of filmmaking through the technical aspects while still maintaining the enjoyment of the movies.
